The Benefits Of Circuit Training

Circuit training is an awesome mode of fitness training typically combining weight training with cardio movements. Circuit training is great for people who are interested in weight loss, muscle gain, body sculpting, and overall strength increases. There are many benefits of Circuit Training. Here are five of my favorite:

1. Maximum Results in Minimum Time

Everyone is busy and time is precious. Unless you're job revolves around physical performance, you probably don't have hours a day to spend in the gym. Circuit training is the perfect workout for those short on time. In as little as 15 or 20 minutes, you can squeeze in a super-charged total body workout.

2. Total Body Challenge

By incorporating individual "stations" as part of a whole-body circuit, you're guaranteed to hit every major--and minor--muscle group in one heart-pumping workout.

3. Combine Cardio and Resistance Training

It's easy to skip a boring, tedious workout (cardio in my case). Circuit training offers you a package deal; two types of workouts for the price of one. By mixing high-intensity cardio with strength training you get the benefits of boosting your heart rate while building muscle mass – increasing your cardiovasular endurance and super-charging your metabolism in the same workout.

4. Super-Charged Metabolism

Thanks to the benefits of High-Intenisty Interval Training (HITT) coupled with resistance training, Circuit Training kicks your metabolism into high gear. You'll burn more calories in 20 minutes of Circuit Training than you would in an entire hour on the elliptical reading a book.

In a study at the University of Connecticut, researchers compared dieters who performed aerobic exercise to those who also did resistance training. The result: Both groups lost nearly the same amount of weight – about 21 pounds per person in 12 weeks. But the group who did resistance training in addition to the aerobic exercise shed an extra 5 pounds of fat.

5. Crush Workout Boredom

Circuit training is such a flexible format. The options in how you structure your workout are nearly limitless. Whether you like to stick to one routine or prefer a different workout every time, having a plan will make you more confident and efficient. Additionally, moving quickly from one exercise to the next keeps you focused and on-task; eliminating boredom.
